Kari Zamora

Mrs. Zamora is originally from Tustin Michigan.  She began taking violin lessons at age 4 through the local Suzuki program.  While in high school, Mrs. Zamora was a member of the All-State Orchestra for 2 years, and the All-State band for 1 year.  She was also part of the International Youth Symphony Orchestra through Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in 1993.  This orchestra toured the midwest as well as Europe. 

She attended Hope College in Holland, Michigan studying music education with violin as her primary focus.  Upon graduation, Mrs. Zamora worked for two years in Harris Michigan teaching PK-4 general music and 5th through 12th grade bands.  In 2002 she received her masters in music theory from the University of Florida.  Mrs. Zamora then came to Texas where she taught for four years in Lewisville ISD starting the orchestra program at Downing and Durham Middle Schools.  In her time at Durham MS, her orchestras received consistent Sweepstakes awards at UIL contests in addition to receiving top ratings and honors at numerous other contests around the state. In 2007, she received the Tex-ASTA Marjorie Keller Award for Outstanding Young Teacher.   Mrs. Zamora is a member of ASTA, TODA, TMAA, and TMEA,  and has previously served as the TMEA Region 24 Middle School Coordinator.

This is Mrs. Zamora's second year teaching in McKinney where she will be teaching at  Faubion Middle School and also helping out at Dowell and Johnson MS regularly.  In addition to her teaching activities, she is a music theory nut and loves analyzing music and creating new "ditties" to help her students be incredible string players!
